H1N1 Vaccine

Okay, so what have all of you decided about getting the H1N1 vaccine for yourself and/or for your child? I am still on the fence with it, although leaning towards getting vaccinated. I have read the CDC's report on the virus and also listened to various arguments from both sides from moms to microbiologists! If you have decided one way or the other, would you mind commenting on the reasons for your decision? I would love to hear and I am sure many others would too!

I am ready for others to comment. We haven't gotten it. I know a lot of people that have. Our peditrician didn't seem to push it either way. He actually said his kids weren't getting it but they are older. Crosby still needs the second does of the seasonal vaccine!

Rad and I got it several weeks ago. We made sure it was the adjuvant-free version. Me being pregnant was the main factor, not only for the health of the pregnancy but also for my own health at the time of delivery. We felt Rad was a pretty high risk for bringing it home from church, into our home with a newborn. You hear such conflicting information about it. I felt, though, that since it is made by the same methods as the seasonal flu vaccine it was worth the risks for our family. As Josh Graves mentioned at church on Sunday, in our neighborhood, a 27 yo mother of a 9 month old died last week from H1N1 complications. She wasn't pregnant, and she had no underlying conditions that have been reported. That type of story just sounds scary to me.

I've decided not to do it for us or the kids.

We were on the fence about this too. Like, Karina, I decided to go ahead and get the shot for myself and Elijah due to my pregnancy. I'm still not sure if that was the right decision, but we just did what we felt was best for our family at the time.
